scanning

how to scan:
1. place item onto scanner
2. select computer
3. select program to scan to - i selected hp scanning centre
4. press scan
5. name and save to file

DESCREEN
descreening reduces undesirable patterns - such as moire patterns, making the image clearer. my scanner doesn't have a descreen on the actual scanner but when you play around with the scanning program that is where you can change the resolution and descreen.

this image is scanned at 150dpi with descreen off.

this image is scanned at 150dpi with descreen on. i actually found that there wasnt much difference at all, which probably means that the scanner has a built in descreen.

RESOLUTION

this image is 72dpi, and is less focused and sharp than the other 2 images.

this image is 150dpi.

i didn't have the option of 360dpi so this image is only 300dpi which is probably why there isn't as much difference between the 150-300dpi images.

ILLUSTRATION AND FABRIC SCAN

To scan in my fabric i used a 360dpi, to hopefully pick up more of the colour and make the image clearer.

To scan in my illustration, i only used 150dpi because it is only black and white and simple line drawings not a colour image.

and now i plan to never scan anything ever again!
